God sent the people of ancient Judah into exile in Babylon. And he sent them with instructions to settle in -- to build houses, plant gardens, and seek the welfare of the city. But why would God have his people work to build up a city that he planned to destroy only two centuries later? And more broadly, what is the purpose of any efforts for good in a where everything is passing away?
