Led to Lament // No Flesh Has Peace // Jeremiah 12:1-13 // Oct 26 2014

No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because death is very likely the single best invention of life. It is life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new.

Why does evil thrive? This is the question Jeremiah asks of his righteous God. And it is the question people like you and I have been asking ever since. God's answer to Jeremiah is startling. He gives no defense for himself but instead warns that it will only get worse. Indeed, he speaks of impending desolation for all the land and all flesh. God seems intent on using the ways of the wicked to make war on his creation and on his creatures. Not even the righteous will be spared.
